Good seeds = Good fruit

Written by Desiree Visser

The human body is primed to sense danger in order to keep us safe. Yet somehow this protective function causes people to become pessimistic and to see potential disasters in every situation! How often do we speak and think the worst case scenario of a difficulty or challenge? Is that our instinctive response?

When we look at the Israelites in the Desert, we notice that they often spoke negatively, without trusting God. Ten times they responded to difficult situations by saying that they should have been left to die in Egypt and that now they were going to die in the desert. In fact, when they refused to trust in God’s Word and promises, God did not curse them – He allowed their own curses to come true! Look at Numbers 14:28 – 29 “I [the Lord] will do to you the very things I heard you say: in this desert your bodies will fall…”

The words we speak are the seeds we sow. So we have to ask ourselves if we are sowing bad seed or good seed into our lives by the words we use. Are we, like the Israelites, choosing to speak our fears in unbelief, rather than speaking words of faith and trust in God? Start viewing your words as seeds that you are sowing into your future – seeds that will bear fruit (good or bad). Let us speak words of hope, words of faith and trust in our Lord and Saviour despite what our danger sensors are showing us! These words do not always come easily, which is why it is important to fill your heart and mind with the Word of God so that you may become good at sowing good word seeds!

Matthew 12:34 “For whatever is in your heart determines what you will say.”

Thank you for the reminder. Its so true one often forgets that there is life and death in the tongue. So let us speak life in very situation, in our faith, family, friends, work, studies finances etc.

Let us use our tongue to speak life. Amen

GOD BLESS

Thank you Desiree, we surely need to daily hide His Word in our hearts as Jesus Christ our Lord said in John 6:63 "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The Words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life." May we continue speaking life!
